Who we are

About Us

To Our Community,

Hello, my name is Dave Klemp. I’d like to take this opportunity to speak directly to you about our mission at Trees for the Triangle and why it is so important that we accomplish it. I love trees, and I’ve come to appreciate all that they do for us in areas where people are highly concentrated, such as the Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill metro areas. They raise property values, reduce energy needs and stormwater runoff, and provide psychological benefits to the people around them, and that’s not to mention the pollution and carbon dioxide they scrub from our air. Life here would simply not be possible without them.

Our area is growing every year, and that growth is positive, but we have to keep in mind the environmental needs of our communities as we plan to continue to attract people from all over the world to the Triangle. In the interest of preserving our towns and cities as green places throughout their growth, Trees for the Triangle will plant hundreds of trees here each year, for a total of 50,000 by the year 2050. This will maintain a healthy urban canopy that gives back more value than it requires of us to invest.

Trees for the Triangle is born from this vision and these goals: to improve the environmental, economic, and aesthetic well-being of the Triangle. It will take the active participation of all of our communities together to realize them in time. Consider this a call to action—the first of many in the course of our mission. Please join us in creating spaces with Trees for All.

Our Vision & Values

Our Vision & Values

Our Core Beliefs Building a tree ethos or "Treethos" that helps us to create a world with "Trees for All"

We envision a future in which the Triangle area is home to a strong interconnected network of native trees, biodiverse urban forests, and prosperous ecosystems that sustain thriving human communities. In turn, these communities are instilled with a spirit of caretaking culture for the planet and inspired to pursue the highest quality of life for current and future generations through the abundant preservation of local natural environments.
